i gave birth to my son about 4 months ago, which, by no coincidence, also happens to be about the time of my last blog post. i also moved across the country (sort of), from o’ahu back to the mainland (tampa, FL). you’ll forgive me for being MIA… won’t you? anyway, i’m fat now.
okay, no, i’m not fat, but i am currently at a “personal fat”. and by that, i mean “fat” is entirely relative, and right now still have 10 15 OKAY DAMNIT, 18 pounds of baby weight to lose. YES, i realize that i just had a baby, so please save it for someone who didn’t just have a baby. that made no sense.
moving on! i’m eating a lot of salads right now. which is cool, because it’s supremely hot outside, and cold things always taste better when it’s THIS hot. this salad is perfection. it is sweet, tangy, salty, crunchy, and FRESH. it’s also substantial for a meatless salad; it will actually fill me up if i make it a large one, and i am constantly STARVING because i’m nursing, so that’s really saying something. peep:
- field greens
- thinly sliced red onion
- fresh strawberries (sliced), blueberries, and raspberries (any or all of the 3)
- gorgonzola
- toasted walnuts (i like to toast them to order, and let them wilt the lettuce and soften the cheese a bit)
- champagne vinaigrette (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Champagne-Vinaigrette-353469) or just buy some at the store, like i do.
i’ll be back when i have an actual recipe for you guys.

Welcome back. we have missed you. And I think that salad looks wonderful.
Mmm. Sounds good! I really love a good moldy cheese with some nuts mixed in.
I recently found this from Mark Bittman and thought you might be interested: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/22/dining/22mlist.html?pagewanted=all.
P.S. You are a hot mama, don’t let the demons in your head tell you otherwise.
